An acid-base balance in
equilibrium is a prerequisite for inner harmony in our bodies. If the
relationship between acids and bases is incorrect, the metabolism will not
function and we shall not feel well.
To provide optimal
conditions for metabolism, the organism is constantly forced to counteract
a shift in this balance according to the strain from acids or bases
Tips for Daily Balance
- Select your menu
consciously.
- Eat in peace and quiet;
chew your food thoroughly. Important nutrients are better absorbed in
this way.
- Drink a lot, preferably
mineral water. In this way, harmful chemicals can be flushed out more
easily.
- Move about, sweat out the
acids that are putting strain to your body.
- Avoid excessive stress.
Relax.
- Increase your daily
supply of vital base foodstuffs. Acids can be neutralized in this way.
- Regular health cures
If it is not possible to
supply enough vital base foodstuffs in the daily diet, there is a special
combination of minerals and trace elements (Basica® products) to harmonize
the acid-base balance.
Consequences of Excess
Acid
Typical consequences of
“acute” excess acid are a tendency to stress, nervousness, a decline in
performance, tiredness and poor powers of concentration. You will feel
listless, exhausted and lacking in motivation.
Rheumatic inflammation which
can be found for example in the joints of rheumatoid arthritis patients
leads to the production of acid contributing to the typical rheumatic pain
sensation. Inadequate supply of alkaline foods like fruits, vegetables and
salad increases acid load and the level of pain rises to a considerable
extent. A recent investigation has demonstrated that adequate alkaline
intake counteracts over acidification and positively influences pain
sensitivity and quality of life of rheumatoid arthritis patients.
Moreover, the need of rheumatic remedies connected to side effects could
be significantly decreased.
Meanwhile it’s also proven
that the development of osteoporosis, a chronic disease caused by bone
demineralisation, is enhanced by acidosis. Even at younger ages it’s
crucial to maintain bone health in the long term by adequate nutrition
with a high intake of alkaline fruits, vegetables and salad. Vital base
substances may additionally contribute to achieve this.
Besides typical signs that
may be connected to acidosis in the body are:
- reduced resistance
- bad moods and
irritability
- a tendency to headaches
or migraine
- a tendency to muscular
tension and articular pain
- irritation of skin, hair
and nails
- heartburn and lack of
appetite
- a tendency to allergies
A lack of physical activity,
e.g. activity seated at a computer, can bring about a lack of oxygen
through insufficient circulation of blood to the muscles. A lack of oxygen
encourages the formation of lactic acid, also straining the acid-base
balance. For this reason, you should move as much as possible, even in
short breaks and renew the air at the workstation regularly
Internal Relief
Because we are continually
at the mercy of changing levels of acids and bases, the organism has
developed mechanisms that keep the acid-base balance in a natural
equilibrium. Acids are also continually produced in our digestion. For
this reason, the body constantly has to counteract a shift in this
balance. This is guaranteed by its buffering capacity which vigorously
depends on the supply of a daily sufficient quantity of alkaline
substances, organically bound minerals and trace elements. That's the only
way the body is able to combat a shift of the balance towards acidity.
A diet rich in bases will
encourage the maintenance of your health. Fresh fruits and vegetables and
most milk products are ideal. These are the most important sources of
basic vitamins, minerals and trace elements and, for this reason, they
should predominate in your menu.
At the same time, not all
sharp-tasting foods are acid. Thus, for example, lemons and vinegar have a
positive effect on the acid-base balance, because they contain minerals
that effect alkalis; the acids that they contain are broken down neutrally
in the body.
Acid-forming foodstuffs do
not originally contain acids, but they produce acid substances in the
course of digestion and when they are absorbed and reused by the cells.
Many of our basic foodstuffs, e.g. protein, are among the acid forming
foodstuffs. Since protein is an essential nutrient adequate intake should
be focused on protein derived from vegetable sources while decreasing
animal protein intake.
For how long can I take
Basica products?
Basica products can be taken for an unlimited period of time without
reservations for harmonization of the acid-base balance. If excessive
quantities of minerals or trace elements are ingested, these will be
excreted again without problems if the kidney function is normal. Since
the functioning of the kidneys declines with increasing age, however,
elderly persons should go to their doctor to have this checked at regular
intervals.
Can the Basica products
also be taken during pregnancy and the nursing period?
During pregnancy and the lactation period, the need for minerals and trace
elements is clearly increased. The Basica products can also be taken in
the recommended dosage during pregnancy and the lactation period for
supporting the acid-base balance.
Are Basica products also
suitable for children?
The Basica products are also suitable for children of 4 years or older.
The daily dose depends on the body weight: 0.3 g Basica Vital granular
powder or 0.2 g Basica Instant per kg body weight or 1-2 tablets Basica
Compact are recommended.
Can I also take the
Basica products if I cannot tolerate milk sugar?
Due to a shortage of the enzyme lactase, which breaks down lactose in the
intestine and thereby makes it digestible, diarrhea and indigestion occur
after the intake of large quantities of milk sugar. However, this effect
is dose-dependent and only relevant for milk sugar quantities from 5 g
upwards. For patients with a lactose intolerance, we therefore recommend
taking Basica Compact or Basica Instant with a negligible lactose
proportion of < 0.8 g per recommended daily dosage.
Why is it sensible to
take bases to prevent osteoporosis?
An unbalanced diet often lacks base-formers like fruit and vegetables. In
the long term, this can lead to the organism having to rely on the body's
base depot, the bones, to maintain the acid-base balance. To compensate
for the over acidification, basic minerals like calcium are released from
the bone. If this condition persists for some time, the physiological
balance between the formation and destruction of bone shifts; that is, the
bone substance is increasingly broken down and the bones become more
rapidly porous and fragile. A balanced diet with a high proportion of
base-formers therefore promotes the long-term health of bones.
Does Basica help combat
cellulite?
The connective tissue of a chronically over acidified organism serves to
store surplus acids that cannot be excreted. However, this reduces its
capacity to bind water and the elasticity decreases. This effect is partly
responsible for the development of cellulite. A diet rich in bases
combined with other measures to clean out the body (e.g. sauna) can
therefore exert a favourable effect on the skin status.

In the case of intensive

- During the exertion:
